PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING WORKSHOP ON INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED MINERAL REPORTING STANDARDS FOR COUNCIL OF NIGERIAN MINING ENGINEERS AND GEOSCIENTISTS (COMEG) RECOGNIZED COMPETENT PERSONS

The training was designed to create awareness on the need for competency in Mineral Reporting in the Extractive Industry and to emphasize the essentiality for a unified internationally recognized reporting or code that would be adopted by the Nigerian Mining Industry. It was also aimed at enlightening participants on the extant internationally recognized Mineral Reporting standards and to understand the role of competent persons in the Extractive Industry.

The training took place at the Royal Birds Motel, Ijapo Estate, Akure, Ondo state in March, 2021 and was attended by vast array of Mining Engineers, Geoscientists, Mineral processing Engineers, Aspiring Mining Investors, Academics and Operators involved in Mining, Quarrying, Mineral processing and related professions and Industries.

At the end of the training, participants were able to understand the various internationally recognized mineral reporting systems, standards, classifications and requirements; identify the modifying factors constituting a standard mineral report; communicate, participate and consult in mineral reporting systems; comprehend the application of the different standard systems to mineral reporting; and prepare a standard mineral report.
