PROFESSIONALS TRAINING ON HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT (HSE) FOR EXTRACTIVE INDUSTRY

In pursuit of the mandate to prescribe and enforce the standards of education and experience for persons wishing to practice as professionals in the Extractive Industry, The Federal Government through the Council of Nigerian Mining Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG) collaborated with Geocardinal Engineering Services to execute a professional training programme on Health, Safety and Environment for Extractive Industry Professionals such as Mining Engineers, Geoscientists, Mineral Processing Engineers, Aspiring Mining Investors , academics and operators in Mining, Quarrying, mineral processing and related professions.

At the end of the training exercise, participants were able to understand the Nigerian Extractive Industry and associated hazards; conduct risk assessment and understand determining controls; understand the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) program(s) pertaining to the mining industry; understand the resources, roles and responsibilities of authority in OHS implementation in a standard organization; understand operational control, emergency preparedness and response; understand performance measuring, monitoring and improvement; and demonstrate ability to identify hazards in the mining industry and perform HSE practices within the workplace.
